Parenting a newly diagnosed autistic child can feel like being handed a map with half the streets missing. You love your child deeply. You're trying everything. And some days it still feels hard to know what they need.
You're not doing it wrong. You just haven't had the right information yet. This program was built for exactly where you are right now.
What You'll Learn Together
Week One | Understanding Your Child's Brain and Behaviour
Understanding autism as a neurological difference, not a deficit. Learning to read behaviour as communication, not defiance. The nervous system basics every parent deserves to know.
Week Two | Sensory Processing and Regulation
How your child experiences the world through their senses, what overwhelms them, what helps calm them, and small ways to build more settled days.
Week Three | Play, Connection and Reducing Demands
Following your child's lead. Recognising where demands quietly pile up in your day and how to gently ease the pressure so home feels safer for everyone.
Week Four | Sustainable Parenting and Next Steps
Because you matter in this. Building co-regulation, recognising early burnout, and mapping out a support plan that actually fits your life and your family.
Everything You Get in the Program
-
Individual 1:1 sessions with your OT
4 x 45-minute individual sessions with your OT. Fully tailored to your child and your family. These are yours alone, no group, no audience.
-
Small group education sessions
4 x 60-minute small group education sessions with other parents who truly get it.
-
Digital parent workbook
Weekly activities, reflection prompts, and practical tools you'll keep coming back to long after the program ends.
How to Join the Program
A lot of parents tell us they weren't sure if they were ready to reach out. You don't have to be ready. You just have to be curious. There are only three steps, and we're with you through all of them.
01
Tell us a little about your family
Fill in a short form so we can understand where you're at and what you're hoping to get from the program.
03
Join your cohort and begin
We'll send your welcome email, workbook, and session schedule. Then we start, together.
Have a quick chat with us
We'll have a 15 to 20 minute phone call to make sure this is the right fit for your family right now.
02
Investment and Funding
We know navigating fees alongside everything else is a lot. Here's exactly what's involved, and how you might be able to use your NDIS funding to cover it.
-
The full program investment is $974. This covers everything:
Four 1:1 sessions (60 min each)
Four small group education sessions (60 min each, max 10 families)
Digital parent workbook for you to keep
-
You can pay in full upfront, or split the cost across a payment plan. We'll work out what suits you best on the screening call. We want this to be as accessible as possible.
-
This program may be funded under your NDIS plan (Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living). Check with your plan manager or support coordinator to confirm. Available to self and plan managed participants. A service agreement is provided before the program begins.
Not sure if this is right for you? Book a screening call first (there's no obligation).
MEET YOUR OT
Kristin is a paediatric occupational therapist with experience supporting autistic children and their families across the NDIS, with a particular focus on sensory needs, emotional wellbeing, trauma, and daily functioning. She works alongside children, parents, and other key supports to build practical skills, strengthen regulation, and support fuller participation in everyday life.
Her approach is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and family-centred. Drawing on sensory integration, nervous system education, and relational ways of working, Kristin supports families to better understand what is sitting underneath behaviour and how to respond in ways that feel both practical and compassionate.
She is passionate about helping parents feel less overwhelmed and more confident in supporting their child, while also honouring each child’s unique profile, strengths, and way of being in the world.
Kristin Steenkamp
I believe every parent deserves to feel confident in how they support their child, and every autistic child deserves to be truly understood.
Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? The FAQs below cover most of what parents ask us. And if yours isn't there, just reach out. We'd love to hear from you.
-
No. This is a coaching and education program for you as the parent. It won't replace your child's OT, speech pathology, or psychology services. Think of it as the missing piece that helps everything else make more sense.
-
This program may be claimable under Capacity Building (Improved Daily Living) for self and plan managed participants. We recommend checking with your plan manager or support coordinator. A service agreement is provided before you commit to anything.
-
Life happens, especially with young kids. Individual sessions can be rescheduled where possible. Group sessions aren't recorded to protect everyone's privacy, but Kristin will check in with you personally if you miss one.
-
Completely. This program is built on the belief that autism is a neurological difference, not something to be fixed. Everything we do is grounded in understanding, connection, and deep respect for your child exactly as they are.
-
Not at all. Sessions run on Google Meet and we'll make sure you're comfortable before we begin. The workbook is a simple PDF that can be read on screen or printed out at home.
-
Yes, the weekly group education sessions include up to 10 families. These are confidential, supportive spaces. Many parents say the group is one of the most valuable parts of the program.
