Paediatric Mental Health Occupational Therapy
Supporting children from 2-18 years old, Nesting Space paediatric OT’s provide support and therapy that respects and celebrates the neurological differences of each child in their home or school environment.
At Nesting Space, our paediatric Occupational Therapists support children to build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in everyday life.
Using a sensory-based and play-driven approach, we help children understand their bodies, emotions, and environment in ways that feel safe and fun. Therapy focuses on developing emotional regulation, attention, fine and gross motor skills, and independence in daily routines like dressing, feeding, and play.
Our sessions are tailored to each child’s unique sensory profile and are guided by neuroaffirming, family-centred practice. We work closely with parents, carers, and teachers to create consistent strategies that help children feel calm, capable, and connected, both at home and in the community in the specific areas:
Fine motor skills
Gross motor skills
Self care skills
Play skills
Social skills
Sensory abilities
Mechanical abilities
Cognitive abilities
We provide home visits only, as we believe seeing the child in their own environment allows us to understand their world more deeply and support real, lasting change. This approach ensures that new skills can be practised, reinforced, and transferred naturally to both the child and their family.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Clinical Supervision - Occupational Therapy
We provide clinical supervision for anyone wanting support with building their Mental Health OT clinical skills with their NDIS caseload. I have worked as a Mental Health OT with the NDIS for over 8 years.
Clinical supervision with me will be a semi-formal partnership guided by you. I adopt a growth mindset and a coaching approach, meeting each supervisee at their current professional stage without judgment or expectation of prior knowledge.
This relationship provides a platform to set and achieve goals that foster the supervisee's professional growth.
Perinatal Mental Health Occupational Therapy
Mental Health Occupational Therapists’ working in the perinatal context bring a unique and advanced skill set to the understanding and treatment of mental health in the perinatal period and offer services that blend occupational therapy with a deep understanding of Matrescence.
MHOT’s understand that pregnancy, childbirth and the adjustment to parenthood can have a significant impact on mental health that can be exacerbated by sleep deprivation, pre-existing mental health issues and changes to other relationships.
Psychology / Counselling
At our practice, our psychologists provide therapy that respects and embraces neurodiversity. We don’t see any mental health disorders as deficits to be fixed—but as different ways of experiencing and interacting with the world.
Our role is to support individuals in navigating a world that isn’t always designed with their strengths in mind. We work collaboratively to build self-understanding, emotional regulation strategies, and tools for thriving—at school, work, home, and in relationships.
Whether we’re exploring identity, supporting communication, or helping manage anxiety, we prioritise consent, autonomy, and strengths-based approaches. Therapy is paced to the person, and guided by their lived experience.
We’re here to validate, not correct.
